Recently my friends opened a vegan ice cream store in Austin, Sweet Ritual. They asked me to take some quick photos of them and their nifty parlor. It’s located on 45th & Duval inside the same building as Daily Juice.. Despite whatever you doubts you may have, it’s absolutely delicious. As a lover of milk-based ice cream, I was dubious, but their ice cream far exceeded my expectations.  It delivers a clean, light, and creamy texture. Go check it out!

I was just saying on Facebook that I’m a huge fan of music about social & political dissent disguised as positive / happy music. I love the idea of people who don’t really pay attention to lyrics enjoying an upbeat song and not realizing it’s possibly counter to their beliefs. This happened a lot in high school. My very fiscally and social conservative friends would listen to a rocking song and ignore the fact that it’s about gay rights, socialism, anti-war, anti-wealth, anti-them.

The wannabe-elitist constructs and climbs their own social hierarchy based on where their interests and goals lie. A pure elitist sees through those games and considers themselves above all of them. I would like to strive for neither, although it seems impossible. The wannabee-elitist is self-serving and considers those who don’t want to play the game as flakes, or lazy, undriven, not up for the challenge, etc… The pure elitist’s philosophy, however, is prone to ennui, often caused by a rebellion against the wannabe-elitists. I don’t know which one I fit into more. All I know is… nice guys don’t finish last, they just don’t run the race because they don’t understand it or think it’s fleeting.

I’m just so tired of all of it. It’s hard not to imagine what others think of your actions. You can’t make them understand. You just have to not care. That’s the only real power you have.

I was in a room one night filled with lots of lights. All of them were glowing brightly. After awhile, I began glowing brightly too. I saw a light that wasn’t as bright. I spent some time with this light. It got a little brighter, I got a little dimmer. Late in the evening, everyone’s lights began to dim. For some reason, our lights stayed constant late into the evening. Much later, all the lights had faded, but we were still glowing. When I began to fade, the other light shared some of it’s light with me. We suddenly became perfectly matched in brightness for a long long long long time. We stayed there until we both burnt out peacefully and silently together.
