First Photo of 2013 & Goals

First photo of 2013

Firstly, some amazing things have just happened to me. One hundred and one extraordinarily nice people people combined monetary powers to pay for over half of my new Canon 5d, mkiii. Above is a photo from the first session taken with the new camera. I’m overwhelmingly touched. I’m in the process of making a cute “Thank You” video. I want to thank everyone personally and show them how much I appreciate this gesture.

Secondly, I have decided to lay out some goals for the new year. 2012 sprinted by but I managed to at least start a lot of projects I’ve had in mind. Here are a few highlights of those:

  • My directorial debut of  Manhattan Stories far exceeded my expectations in vision and reception.
  • I enrolled at new improv institutions (new for me), namely ColdTowne Theater and the experience has been invaluable
  • I have seriously begun digging into learning Spanish, mostly vocabulary, in preparation for my March trip to Spain
  • Squirrel Buddies, my improv duo with Roy Janik, was accepted to the Alaska Improv Festival and will perform in April, 2013
  • Other notable experiences: Process (Hideout Theatre), multiple performances at the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin, visiting Ohio, teaching new improv classes every other month, swimming lessons, roadtrip to see wildflowers, wrecking my scooter and fracturing my elbow!
And so I challenge myself to the following for 2013!
  • Publishing photography in regionally or nationally known publications
  • An exhibit of new photography works, of my own conception , not just a collection of photos from the past
  • Feeling confident in my ability to speak Spanish while in Spain, this March
  • Reading as much Anton Chekhov as I possibly can
  • Perform or produce a scripted piece of theater
  • Resume oil painting projects
  • Build some furniture from scratch
  • Continue to exercise, especially swimming
  • Visit more people
  • A photography project that includes getting to know people as part of the process
  • Camping, dancing lessons in some capacity
  • Launch a full-fledge Volunteering committee for the Austin Improv Community

Manhattan Stories in Out of Bounds

The cast of Manhattan Stories and I created a promotional video.

I’m really excited for our show tomorrow night at The Scottish Rite Theatre.

It’s part of the Out of Bounds Comey Festival.

Found Writing

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

I found this piece of writing from a journal

I was in a room one night filled with lots of lights. All of them were glowing brightly. After awhile, I began glowing brightly too. I saw a light that wasn’t as bright. I spent some time with this light. It got a little brighter, I got a little dimmer. Late in the evening, everyone’s lights began to dim. For some reason, our lights stayed constant late into the evening. Much later, all the lights had faded, but we were still glowing. When I began to fade, the other light shared some of it’s light with me. We suddenly became perfectly matched in brightness for a long long long long time. We stayed there until we both burnt out peacefully and silently together.

iPhone Simulator Location

Nerds always making things difficult. I downloaded the iphone simulator + xcode developer pack to develop an iphone / mobile website for my company.

Here’s how to do that!

1. Sign up to be a developer on Apple’s development site (it’s free!) http://developer.apple.com/programs/ios/

2. Download the latest xcode with iOS SDK. It’s pretty large.

3. Install said stuff

4. Go to this place on your mac /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/Applications/iPhone Simulator.app.

5. Make an alias or shortcut for that application and drag it into your Applications folder on your dock. That way you can search for it or use Quicksilver.
