Christmas! Face lifted?

Monday, December 27th, 2010

On Christmas Eve I tried to check Facebook as per my usual internet compulsions protocol. I find a warning that my account had been jeopardized by internet samurai (just kidding) and terminated due to a security breach. They gave me a contact for support, but I haven’t heard back yet.

What’s funny is that it’s been really nice without it. I didn’t feel like I lost anything when I found out. Even losing all those photos, contacts, and data didn’t disturb me one iota. I am most likely in a different situation than most considering all my photos are diligently organized and backed up on my computer (being a photographer dork and all). But I can’t think of an example that has permanent value. It made me aware of all the meaningless contact I have with folks day-to-day as a distraction.

I doubt I will stick to this, but… I’m considering not re-signing up. I’m sure when it comes time to promote something, I’ll cave. But let’s see how long I can last! New Years resolution! Now if I can only get rid of my Twitter account.

Christmas was wonderful this year. I came in on Christmas Day and it was just perfect. Everyone seems to be in a terrific mood.

Happy Thanksgiving

Turkey cookies from Quack's Bakery

This year I have boat loads to be thankful for. A lovely girlfriend, upcoming improv projects, a new troupe in the works, plethora of photography gigs forthcoming, a career change, secure financial situation, (mostly) good health, tons of great friends, a supportive family, opportunities to live in other parts of the city. Every year just gets better. It’s easy to forget that in the moment, sometimes.

Going Home

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

I’m headed to Ohio for the holidays. Dec 21st – 31st. I’m looking very very forward to it. I’m exhausted. Christmas will be spent with my parents, our awesome cats, my sweet nephews, my best friend, and his family. I’m hoping to spend time catching up on personal projects as well as reevaluating a lot of things and goals of mine. 2010 is going to be very interesting. Until then, let’s PAAARRRRTTTYYYYY!!!!

Roy & Kaci Got Married

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

roy_kaci_212Yesterday Roy Janik & Kaci Beeler were wed. I attended the 12th wedding of 2009, and my 40th wedding photography gig. They were married at the Cathedral of Junk in south Austin and the reception was held at Hill’s Cafe just a few blocks away.

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt such emotion at a wedding. I never thought I’ d ever be able to engage fully¬† after seeing so many. I didn’t realize how close I’d gotten with two people with Austin. It’s been three years since leaving Ohio and I now have enough memories with people here that when they get married I see all the moments we’ve spent zip through my mind.

It hit me the night before at the Moonbase when Roy said “I’m glad you’re here”. And again when I met Kaci at the hotel to do some getting ready pictures. It was hard to concentrate on taking photos, I just got so caught up in the magic of everything. Everything was so perfect and I’m so happy for it.

Congratulations you two.
