Grocery Store Interaction

I was at HEB (local texas grocery for you non-Texan readers) just about 20 minutes ago. I only picked up a handful full of items and proceeded to check out. This is a real transcript between me and the checkout guy.

Me: I don’t need a bag with these

HEB Dude: Oh, yeah you do actually

Me: ???? Um.. naw, I’m good. I’m just going to put them in my bike’s compartment

HEB Dude: You have a bike, then you’ll really need a bag

Me: No, seriously, I don’t want a bag, I’m fine.

HEB Dude: You have to have a bag. I’m sorry.

What????

Maybe to prove that you bought everything you walked out with? That happened to me once. But man, “you have to have a bag”, ridic.

I have experienced the exact same conversation when buying a toy at Walmart once, well minus the bike part, and I suppose with Walmart you kind of expect such things. But I feel your pain.

Also, I’ve updated my site, not finished yet, but still superior to what I had going on before I think: samanthaarmacost.com

I thought about that too (the security thing) but I was practically the only person in the store and I was just 15 feet from the door. It would’ve been impossible for me to put anything in the bag. It was nuts

Seems like the whole idea of innocent till proven guilty is slowly being replaced with the corporate attitude: “everybody is a thief”
