So I finally got my scooter after waiting about two months for it to arrive. I decided to invest in this bad boy for several reasons. My car has become increasingly less reliable over the last year or so. I’ve sunk tons of money into small repairs. With recently becoming self-employed, I was afraid a car loan payment would be too much for me to handle.
I broke my weekly transportation down on a piece of paper and realized that 90% of my vechile use was for trips less than five miles from home. This includes the improv venues I frequent, grocery store, bank, coffeeshop, friends’ houses, music venues, restaurants, laundromat. So it makes senses to get a vehicle designed for short trips and high mileage. The scooter was perfect, getting 90mpg. And my car is still in enough working condition to drive it whenever I need to go further or the roads are in bad condition.
I feel fairly safe on this vechile. It has a low center of gravity and is extremly responsive. I took a 3-day motorcycle safety course at Motofun. The course was around $190. The license was only sixteen bucks. And! The place where I purchased the scooter (Urban Moto) gave me a $99 discount for taking the course before purchasing the scooter. So total cost of being legal and safe = $107.
I’m sure I’ll post more photos of it sometime, I’ve just been so busy riding it. I can’t keep my hands off it! I recommend it to anyone that lives in a close knit community and can’t afford to spend a ton on a car.
